Hair Loss in Men Shouldn’t Lead to Baldness

While it is common for most men to experience hair loss by the time they are 50, some guys start to thin out much earlier. Not everyone reacts negatively to male pattern baldness, but others with receding hairlines often feel unattractive and less confident. In fact, studies suggest that hair loss can become an emotional burden, which could lead to low self-esteem and impaired quality of life.

Hair loss is often inherited, but this does not mean that you can’t do anything to stop the process and fight baldness. The good news is, there are plenty of products and treatments that can prevent hair thinning and promote regrowth.  If you’re suffering from hair loss, it is best to start treatment early and adopt proper hair care practices.

Here’s how you can prevent balding and keep what hair you still have:

Deal with Dandruff

Dandruff causes more than just an itchy scalp and shedding of skin flakes; it can also speed hair loss and thinning. If you have a flake problem, it is advisable to use an anti-dandruff shampoo to fight the dandruff-causing yeast. Products with ketoconazole are ideal, as they are antifungal and minimise itching and flaking of the scalp. Shampoos with selenium sulphide are also a great choice because of their antifungal properties.

Eat Hair-Friendly Foods

Foods rich in certain nutrients help keep your hair longer. Vitamin A promotes health of cells in the body, which includes hair and scalp. Good sources of vitamin A include carrots, fish oil, fortified milk, and dark leafy greens. B vitamins (B6, B12, and folic acid), meanwhile, supply blood and oxygen to hair to avoid damaged locks and rapid hair loss. Good sources of B vitamins are fish, chicken, meat, and soybeans. You might also want to avoid foods high in fats and sugar, as they can affect hair growth.

De-Emphasise Thinning Hair

The right styling can make hair loss seem less dramatic. It is best to groom or style hair using the natural pattern of your locks. It is also advisable to cut your thinning hair short, as keeping it long will only accentuate the problem. While you can use certain shampoos and conditioner to add volume to your hair, be sure to avoid excessive use of chemicals found in dyes and some styling products. Handle your hair gently and avoid combing or brushing it too much.

Relieve Stress and Anxiety

Your genes may be the reason you’re losing hair, but stress can also cause rapid shedding. This is because it increases the production of cortisol, which then causes a fluctuation of response in other hormone levels. Reduce stress by trying meditation or other relaxation exercises. Regular physical activity also reduces stress hormones, with the benefit of having a fitter body. Also, avoid thinking too much about hair loss, as it only adds emotional stress.

Use Hair Regrowth Products/Treatments

Hair regrowth and thickening products are widely available, but not all deliver results. If you want to treat hair loss and keep your hair, it is best to see an expert to learn more about safe and effective regrowth options. A medically supervised program is often the right way to regrow and keep your hair.  This may include scalp cleaning to promote follicular activity, platelet rich plasma (PRP) therapy to rejuvenate hair follicles, and Mosaic laser renewal to boost hair regrowth.

Bioscor International has more than 20 years of experience in providing medically supervised treatment for hair regrowth. We are dedicated to delivering exceptional service by offering affordable hair growth programs with no surgery involved. We also offer no lock-in contracts and follow a pay-as-you-go system.
