Three Reasons to Visit a Spa

Somewhere in the back of your mind you know that you would probably benefit from a visit to a health spa or a medi-spa.  These places promote relaxation and stress relief, helping you let go not only of tension in the body but also stresses of the mind.

Of course, the most common therapies sought at a Euro-Spa is the massage. At the same time, there are actually many types of massage that you could choose from.  Knowing about the various modalities can help you to better choose which type of bodywork you should seek.Image result for Three Reasons to Visit a Spa

Here are a few of the more common massage techniques employed at health spas and medi spas.

    • Swedish massage is the most common type of massage across the globe.  This technique uses only medium pressure, employing several different strokes to relax the muscles, encourage blood flow, and reduce tension and pain to promote overall relaxation.
    • Deep Tissue massage focuses more on loosening deeper tension. There are two layers of muscle and deep tissue digs pretty deep; it can be painful and is actually better for people who suffer from chronic pain
    • Reflexology is a specific modality that utilizes moderate pressure on small points in the hands and feet to address integral pain or other problems; as well as relieve stress and reduce inflammation.

After massage, though, many people seek the services of a spa as a form of escape.  And you can accomplish this through meditation. Meditation helps you to relax the mind—which can be just as important as relaxing the body—by centering and quieting your thoughts.  Much like massage, there are many different ways to meditate and, like massage, you can find a combination of mediation techniques (and meditation combined with massage) to figure out the right combination for you.

Did you know that the skin is actually the largest organ in the body?  Well, now you know.  But, ironically, this largest organ in the body happens to be on the outside and that means it is constantly exposed to toxins and harsh environmental conditions. While we regularly bathe and wash away some of these elements these toxins (and other elements) can penetrate and deposit deeper into the skin.  Skin treatments help to detoxify the body; which can work well in combination with other techniques to really help you achieve your ultimate relaxation.
